It is so easy to just give in to our stress and feel the weight of the world on our shoulders. I've been feeling really stressed lately due to a new job. I want to do my best work always and I push myself harder than anyone else. I feel that if I don't do a perfect job, then I will be replaced. That is fear talking! I have to keep reminding myself of what is truly important to me in life. I don't know how long I'll live but I'd like to live by my values as much as I can. This universe is vast and full of wonder, why bother sweating the small stuff? This is where gratitude comes into play.
Gratitude helps me appreciate what I do have in life, my achievements, the lessons I've learned and where I'm going. Sometimes I feel broken and empty but when I exercise gratitude I feel like love is hugging me and I don't feel bad anymore. I don't feel so scared. The thousand miles I've walked alone suddenly fill up with roses and sunny days. Gratitude is like a reset button. It gives you the opportunity to rewrite your story to your liking. You can leave the ugly out and shine a light on the beautiful.
About 11 months ago I met the love of my life. We've had arguments here and there but gratitude allows me to see that love is my priority. Before I found love, I was wandering alone in this world. Not only because I didn't have him but also because I wasn't loving myself. When he brought down my wall he also made me realize that I need to love myself too. I am grateful everyday for having my greatest love, my boyfriend and myself. I used to focus on only money and security because I felt afraid and wounded. Now I feel alive.
